Scallop boats go out from one to ten days.  A dredge tows for sea scallops along the ocean floor where they live. Scalloping is a limited access fishery.  Permits are either limited access for 120 days a year or a general permit where the daily limit is 400 pounds.  The scallops are schucked on board by hand and immediately iced.

These scallops are ready  to be shipped to market

The scallop fishery has made a major come back in recent years due to the conservation efforts of  commercial fisherman and regulatory agencies.
